Custom made soft toys from children’s art
By Alex
Childsown.com is a stay at home Mum’s idea for creating children’s soft toys from their very own drawings.
The service is beautifully simple:
Child draws character
Parent sends off drawing and $50 CAD
Wait a few weeks
Receive completed toy.
All the toys are handmade in Canada and great attention is clearly paid to the detail and intent of the child’s original idea. Apparently 4-5 year olds’ drawings make the best toys, something about their imagaination and ability to articulate their ideas visually.
Why do I find this interesting? It’s a great example of customisation using traditional offline skills, but which is enabled by simple online technologies. Children LOVE seeing their drawing turned into a soft, cuddly toy. They realise with great pride, “Hey, I made that!"
